Hello all,I am looking at a JD4200 with std. gear transmission and 420 loader. I am concerned this will have enough horsepower for heavy mowing, and light to medium loader work. I am also concerned about not having the sync reverse or hydro transmission. Any experience? Also, I quoted 16,500 for the tractor and loader. Any

We are looking for the same set up...can't get the Hydro without a llooonnnnggg wait, so we are going for the standard gears. I think it will be plenty powerful for light and med loader work, and the mowing...? who can really tell. We were able to get a dealer to $14500 plus tax for a lease return with 69 hours and full warranty. is your price including tax? These little machines are sooo expensive! ....

I ordered a 4200 hdy, 60in deck and 420 loader, I waited about 2 months, got my tractor with out loader, they were having a hard time getting them a the time, so I used it to cut my lawn for the first time, Ive got a small hill in my yard, in B range at 2700rpms coming up hill it boggs down. I was not very inpressed with the power as I traded a 445JD in that would cut the same hill as fast as it would go, and that faster that the 4200, so I called my dealer and told him that I did not like this tractor, Willison Equipment in Spartanburg S.C., he asked what I wanted him to do, I told him that I loved the tractor but not the power, I now have a 4400 hdy, 72in deck and 420 loader the power is great. ....

4200. Hello, I have some experiance with the 4200 as I am the unfortunate owner of one. I have nothing but hydraulic and power problems with the tractor. There are others with the same problem. The dealers is unable to repair the hydraulic problem and the tractor has been down a total of a month. The tractor only has 200 hours on it!!!!!!!I have only had the tractor for 7 months. I am going to try and get my money back and buy a Kubota. All the other farmers around me are now buying Kubotas and I have the only new JD compact around. Makes you want to say HUMMMMMMM!!! Good luck and be careful ....
